“Be Not Unaware, Nor Discouraged” by Steve Martin

Be Not Unaware, Nor Discouraged

Have you ever gotten an email, phone call, text and asked, “Where did that come from?” Out of the blue you receive something that throws you, and you wonder, “What did I do to deserve that?”

It is not uncommon these days to get reactions, opinions, even hatred thrust your way, as if it is the “assigned duty” of the one sending it to do so.

Well, with some of those messages sent it is their job, when you consider the ultimate source.

“Be  of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”1 Peter 5:8, NASB

However these attacks come, they are meant to wear down the believers, stop them in their tracks, keep them from pursuing and fulfilling their calling.

But they cannot. They must not.

It used to be that it would take me days to get over a hurtful word, spoken or written. It would simmer in my head, my heart, and I would battle to rid myself of it.

Over the years that time period has dropped down to about an hour or so.

After repenting of any action on my part, seriously considering if I was at fault, I move on in the grace and love of the Holy Spirit, recognizing the attack for what it was.

We certainly are not perfect. Sometimes these actions against us were from our own initial instigation. See it as another teaching moment to watch our mouth and our words that we give out.

We must not be unaware that attacks will come.

Even as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, wrestled, battled, fought them off through prayer and daily walking with the Father, we too, as His children, are not left alone.

Even as in the natural Israel is lambasted every day it seems, as the Scriptures tell us, so be it is in  the spiritual.

“46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47 The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second Man is from heaven.

48 As is the earthy one, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly One, so also are those who are heavenly.

49 Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly.” 1 Corinthians 15:46-49 NASB

The devil hates us. His legions war against us.

But we will stand and accomplish that which we are given to do. Our Lord’s promise to to us.

As an extra note, I have found listening to worship music gets my heart and head, and spirit, back to good order!

Travel on until you get there. Walk With Me, Steve Martin (Song by Leland)

Walk With Me as Leland sings, “Where You Are.” Beautiful, Lord.

Another blueberry bagel…

A Jewish from a video screenshot. Beautiful lady.

Another blueberry bagel this morning as the day begins here in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I made a phone call to India to bless my 46-year old friend Yeshudas for this birthday today. Along with his pretty wife Pritima, we continue our daily messages and weekly calls first began in 2019 when I met him at his church in Konta, India, southeast of the 17 million populated city of Hyderabad. Together they have two boys, 12 year old Daniel and 6 year old Joseph.

(Phone screenshot of Yeshudas and Pritima July 15, 2026)

Yeshudas has been trying to finish the house next door so they can move in from the one-room at the back of their church. So far the project has taken almost 10 years, since I last saw it. Funds are scarce.

Someday we will meet again. These long distance friendships are good, but being in person with one another is always better!

Be blessed,

Steve Martin

“Under 50?” Message by Steve Martin

Under 50?

Listening to Tucker Carlson, Candice Owens, and others on TikTok or YouTube will give you a strong opinion about world events. Especially about Christians and Christianity. And even more so about Israel and the Jews.

A strong biblical foundation is necessary if one is to have a good perspective of this world and the direction it is going. And those who call themselves “Christians,  and yet speak vehemently against biblical truth, are not. They simply are not Christians.

You can call yourself something you are not, but your walk tells others who you really are. Remember, “You will know them by their fruit.”

15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will [p]know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they?

17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So then, you will [know them by their fruits.” Matthew 7, NASB

I grew up under the teaching of Derek Prince, an Englishman who came to the USA in his 60s and later started Derek Prince Ministries in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I was on staff a total of eight years with his ministry. His strong stance and clear, solid teaching on deliverance, gifts of the Holy Spirit, and especially Israel gave me the  biblical foundation I needed.

His message, “Our Debt To Israel” which I first heard in 1979, changed my life forever. I was 25 at the time.

When modern day teachers, prophets, podcasters and “influencers” speak lies and half-lies of Israel, in time the One Who knows all will remove them. He always has judged those who oppose His plans and purposes. Study world history and see for yourself.

I pray daily for my children and grandchildren, as a good father and grandfather should. They are under 50 (yet) but they too need the strong, biblical truths buried deep in their hearts, so when the “liar of all lies” spews out his words, from those among us, they too will know the truth and stand strong on His Word, not theirs.

“Wealth of the Nations” by Steve Martin

Wealth of the Nations

For a long time I would often quote the Bible verse, “The wealth of the nations will come to you.” Isaiah 60:5, NASB And use it for “me.” After all, I was taught that all those “positive verses” in what we have called the Old Testament, and put on our refrigerators (at least we have) were for us as believers. And we would/could “claim them” for us.

Maybe so. Maybe not.

If you read the chapter of Isaiah 60 in full context, Jesus (Yeshua) quoted it when He walked through Israel between 30-33 A.D. as we understand the time (give or take a few years.) And who did He quote these  Isaiah verses to? His people, the Jews. In their synagogues.

And yet we as Christians have often dismissed that accurate part of the Bible and say it is only for us.

Really? I think not.

Have you ever thought of the billions of dollars that the nations of the world have invested in Israel these past decades? I “googled” that question and was amazed at just how much it has been, especially from the USA, from tech giants like Microsoft, Meta, and more.

Check it out for yourself. It is true.

And it goes on to say this, in Isaiah 60 this amazing verse, which we see literally happening in our day too. For Israel. For the JEWS.

“Foreigners will build up your walls, and their kings will minister to you…the wealth of the nations, with their kings led in procession.” (Isaiah 60:10, NASB)

Have you been to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa,  even Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee lately? How about Beersheva and the Negev Desert? I have. For the 30th time this year, 2026. Have you seen all the building going on; the desert blooming?

The fields near Ashdod and down the Med Sea coast literally reminded me of Iowa and Illinois, where I grew up, with their John Deere tractors in the field. Wow!

Mark Twain wrote in the late 1890s on his visit to this land that the place was desolate. Well it certainly isn’t anymore after the multitudes of Jews have made aliyah, coming back to their homeland. And the Living God of Israel pouring out His blessing on them. As He promised.

Reading Scripture with open eyes, and not based on replacement theology, reveals a whole lot of  what and how the Lord, the Living God of Israel, is moving in these last days.

I hope you are taking notice.

“Matchmaker” by Steve Martin

Matchmaker

We all remember the movie “”Fiddler on the Roof”. Especially the one with Chaim Topol as Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman in early 20th-century Russia. I love his character!

Remember the matchmaker, the old lady who brought a young man and a young woman together? And the song the daughters sang, as their hearts longed for a good husband? (Full lyrics below.)

I love it when I see the good Lord connecting people for His purposes and plans. And when He brings together a man and a woman, as He fully intends in His awesome family plans. It is so special and the families rejoice as they should in celebration.

Marriage between a man and a woman should not be a decisive thing. Nor should we allow the enemy of the Lord and His people to make it so. Just basic “sight and science” show His creative design and great achievement to bring more on earth for His eternal family.

That is what a father, and the Father, has always wanted. And trust me, HE will always get what He wants. I can rest in that.

For those longing for a good husband, or a good wife, seek the Father who already knows who it is. And then be patient as He brings you together in love and grace.

Matchmaker! Make them a match! And we will give thanks to You again in joy and love!

Ahava and shalom,

Steve Martin

Matchmaker, Matchmaker lyrics

Tzeitel you're the oldest
Yente has to arrange a match for you before she can make one for me
Oh Yente, Yente
Well, somebody has to arrange the matches
Young people can't decide these things themselves
She might bring someone wonderful
Someone interesting
And well off
And important
Matchmaker, Matchmaker
Make me a match
Find me a find
Catch me a catch
Matchmaker, Matchmaker
Look through your book
And make me a perfect match
Matchmaker, Matchmaker
I'll bring the veil
You bring the groom
Slender and pale
Bring me a ring for I'm longing to be
The envy of all I see
For Papa
Make him a scholar
For mama
Make him rich as a king
For me, well,
I wouldn't holler
If he were as handsome as anything
Matchmaker, Matchmaker
Make me a match
Find me a find
Catch me a catch
Night after night in the dark I'm alone
So find me match
Of my own
Since when are you in a match, Chava?
I thought you had your eye on your books

And you have your eye on the Rabbi's son
Well, why not?
We have only one Rabbi and he has only one son
Why shouldn't I want the best?
Because you're a girl from a poor family
So whatever Yenta brings, you'll take, right?
Of course right
Hodel, oh Hodel
Have I made a match for you
He's handsome, he's young
Alright, he's 62
But he's a nice man, a good catch, true?
True
I promise you'll be happy
And even if you're not
There's more to life than that
Don't ask me what
Chava, I found him
Won't you be a lucky bride
He's handsome, he's tall
That is from side to side
But he's a nice man, a good catch, right?
Right
You heard he has a temper
He'll beat you every night
But only when he's sober
So you'll alright
Did you think you'd get a prince?
Well I do the best I can
With no dowry, no money, no family background
Be glad you got a man

Matchmaker, Matchmaker
You know that I'm
Still very young
Please, take your time
Up to this minute
I misunderstood
That I could get stuck for good

Dear Yenta
See that he's gentle
Remember
You were also a bride
It's not that
I'm sentimental

It's just that I'm terrified
Matchmaker, Matchmaker
Plan me no plans
I'm in no rush
Maybe I've learned
Playing with matches
A girl can get burned
So
Bring me no ring
Groom me no groom
Find me no find
Catch me no catch
Unless he's a matchless match
