“Stories People Share” by Steve Martin

Stories People Share

As I continued on our ministry tour across Texas with Christian Friends of Israel Jerusalem, with six in the van ranging from 37 years to 84 (three men and three women), I am amazed at the stories people tell me at each stop.

My tasks on this trip include driving the vast miles, overseeing the book table, and leading worship as called upon. But it also is giving a listening ear to the people who love to share their stories with me. (Especially the ladies, who we all know tend to speak with more words than us regular guys. Just sayin’.)

In Abilene, Texas, home of the Camp Barkeley Fellowship, the worship leader came to the book table and began telling me of her 25-year old Texas A&M daughter befriending a similar age Israeli man at college. He was on the soccer team.

Being the girl was a music major and loved to write songs, even in other languages, this young man helped her write a song in Hebrew and learn correctly how to pronounce the words as she would sing it.

This song became her “ending song” for her concerts.

The Jew said he was not”religious” but often in his encouraging words to her he unknowing quoted Scripture. She would then tell him that. (Someday he too will believe in the same Messiah.)

I love how the Lord Yeshua (Jesus) connects people. One New Man is what He is making us to be.

The Messiah has made things up between us so that we’re now together on this, both non-Jewish outsiders and Jewish insiders. He tore down the wall we used to keep each other at a distance. He repealed the law code that had become so clogged with fine print and footnotes that it hindered more than it helped. Then he started over. Instead of continuing with two groups of people separated by centuries of animosity and suspicion, he created a new kind of human being, a fresh start for everybody.” Ephesians 2:15, The Message

The red “America 250” hat

June 7, 2026

I have been spending the first week of June here in Texas with Christian Friends of Israel Jerusalem. Three have come from Israel joining three of us here in the States.

Having been staying in a Princeton, Texas home, to son of our team member Parthenia, David, has been a joy to get to know.

He is 37, loves to worship the Lord, walks 6 miles a day, and just graduated from his special school.

I brought with me a bright red “America 250” hat and wore it a few days briefly. I am not one to normally wear a hat though.

David asked if I could have a hat like that. Being I didn’t have another I said, “Here, I’ll give you this one.”

He is a patriot and loves the hat!

Be blessed,

Steve Martin

“Be Not Unaware, Nor Be Afraid” by Steve Martin

Be Not Unaware, Nor Afraid

We all know that our enemy, the Satan as commonly known, does not play fair. In fact, he goes by no rules except his own, which are to totally destroy all who stand with the Lord God, particularly those in support of Israel and His Chosen People the Jews.

Because of that, Christian Friends of Israel in Jerusalem, now over 40 years in existence, just got hacked,  taking down their computer systems.

Others are joining in the recovery effort, which is quite an effort if achieved, but a momentary disaster as this was already known by the Lord before it occurred.

He promises to protect and provide. And He always does in ways we may not comprehend at the time. That does not invalidate His Word.

“The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.” Exodus 14:14

Keep silent? Because again He knows all. He is the One who keeps us, as He has proven time and time again for the Jews of Israel in their Land. And those who stand with them.

“Joshua then said to them, “Do not fear or be dismayed! Be strong and courageous, for thus the Lord will do to all your enemies with whom you fight.”  Joshua 10:25, NASB

The story isn’t over. The end has not come. Yet. But because He rules from His throne, we need not be afraid.

Our God reigns. Remember that. Keep it strong and well-guarded in your heart.

Ahava and shalom,

Steve Martin
